A 3D model is a mathematical representation of an object or shape in 3D space. One of the many benefits over a flat 2D representation is that the audience can be shown all angles of the object. This is especially useful for product advertisement, with the object rotating to different positions to show off its features.
A 3D model is also beneficial as it allows for more detail, realistic texturing & lighting, and it can be rigged and animated. They can help to drastically reduce design time and cost when creating a physical product, as each component can be easily reviewed and updated before production.
3D models can be incorporated in a number of different scenarios and formats – accompanied by graphics and text, composited into filmed footage, spinning on a 360° turntable, as a real-time interactive VR environment or a virtual architectural walkthrough, and much more.
