I had the opportunity to create the album cover for Solarstone’s fourth entry to the Electronic Architecture series, which is a trance music compilation.
The brief was to create a concrete cube comprised of seven individual unique pieces, which fit together to make one whole piece. Each piece represents an element or aspect of the music. During the design process, we decided to add a glowing colour to each piece to make it stand out and provide visual appeal.
I initially created the whole cube in Maya, before breaking it up into the seven pieces and adding some large details to the outer shape. Once I had approval on the pieces I then increased the level of geometry detail and modelled in some more imperfections and variations.
Once I was happy with the model, I UV unwrapped the pieces and sent it into Keyshot to texture, light and render. The renders were taken into Photoshop to be given some final touches such as the light glow and flares, before being applied to the final design.
