Unique times call for unique solutions. When the world was locked down to the Covid-19 pandemic, in-person events such as conferences were not possible.
A modern solution for this is a virtual conference, with different digital event spaces, timed webinars, networking opportunities and more. Dunnhumby decided to put on one of these virtual events for their Global Partner Summit. My role was to create and render the 3D event spaces for use on the virtual conference software.
There were 4 different renders that I was tasked to create – a lobby, an auditorium, an exhibition hall and an event booth. The lobby was used as the welcome area, from where you could click through to other areas. The auditorium was where users could watch talks from industry professionals. The exhibition hall contained a number of booths for each of the partners. When a particular booth was selected there was a close-up render, which could be reskinned with the company’s branding.
While this was useful as a safe solution to in-person events, it would also be a great economical alternative to putting on a large, expensive event, and is an area that can no doubt be improved upon further in future with technologies such as VR and AR becoming more prevalent. Watch this (virtual) space!
